Nelson CFO, Joe Prusko, has been named to the North Bay Business Journal’s 2016 CFO Recognition Awards list. This year marks the Journal’s sixth annual selection of the top 18 North Bay chief financial officers.

“The CFO is the fiscal conscience of an organization. Without them, most organizations simply could not function,” said Business Journal Publisher Brad Bollinger. “Yet, as important as they are, they seldom get recognized for their contributions. These awards are about changing that.”

Joe joined Nelson’s leadership team as Chief Financial Officer in 2015, with more than 35 years of extensive financial management experience with both public and private companies. He has been very involved in strategic planning and debt and equity financing, as well as designing compensation and employee benefit plans. An analytical thinker with a passion for finding solutions for complicated problems, Joe brings invaluable insight to his role at Nelson.

Having held senior-level financial positions with retail and staffing companies, as well as a Silicon Valley learning solutions consulting firm, Joe has continued to be advanced in recognition of his ability as a senior executive. At every company with which he’s worked over the years, his customer focus and provision of timely and useful financial information throughout the company has enhanced management decisions and ultimately driven profitability.

Joe has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from The Pennsylvania State University, and an MBA in finance from Southern Methodist University. He is a Certified Internal Auditor and a CPA.

He discusses his experience and current environments and trends facing CFOs in a new article from the North Bay Business Journal.
